The Authority is the independent body responsible for ensuring an efficient and effective British Transport Police force for rail operators, their staff and passengers.

Established on 1 July 2004. The Authority's costs are met from the BTP's charges to rail operators. The information provided here is for the Authority only and does not include the BTP Force. Triennial Review commenced in 2012/13.
